Those graduates of schools willingly connect their fate with the Institute, who strive to realize themselves in creativity, in the humanities, in the information sphere. The university, which was originally called Perm State Institute of Culture, was created in 1975 year. The purpose of its creation was the realization of the possibility of training professional personnel for regional cultural institutions: heads of houses of culture and clubs, librarians, organizers and hosts of holidays, musicians, choreographers. The first rector of the institute was Zinaida Vorobieva who led the university for 21 years. From 1996 to 2013 the leadership of the university was carried out by professor Evgeny Malianov.
In 2013, our educational institution received a new status. It became known as Perm State Academy of Arts and Culture. The Academy was headed by the Honored Worker of Culture of the Russian Federation, Laureate of international competitions, Laureate of the Russian Performing Arts Foundation (Moscow), Laureate of the Perm Territory Prize in the field of art and culture, professor Lyudmila Drobysheva-Razumovskaya.
In 2015, the historical name was returned to the university.
During the 1970-2000s. The institution has grown rapidly. New specialties were opened, faculties were created, the scientific and creative team of the university was formed. In the period 1991 to 2013, the university carried out training for 4 faculties ( culturology, arts, conservatory and faculty of documentary and information communications), in more than 20 areas, including cultural studies, socio-cultural activities, management, tourism, theory and history of art, folk art culture, library and information activities, applied computer science, document management, acting, painting, etc.
Since 2002, a full range of professional specialties has been opened musical art: musicology and musical applied art, musical instrumental art, vocal art, conducting, musical and theatrical art, the art of concert performance.
In 2011, the university opened a master's program in the direction of training "Culturology".
Since 2011, cooperation with foreign institutions has been successfully developing, namely: Leibniz University (Hannover, Germany) - exchanges of students involved in the restoration of historical memory are carried out; The Czech-Central Asian Chamber of Commerce - carries out mediation work in organizing academic and creative exchanges between the European Union, the countries of the former CIS and Asian countries. For 2 years, the university has been successfully implementing relationships with the Delegation of the European Union, which are aimed at organizing academic exchanges and joint research.
In 2013, the university receives a new impetus for development. Cooperation agreements have been signed with 4 foreign universities and creative centers: the Norwegian Ballet School, the North Asian University of Nationalities (Langzhou, China), the Russian-French Sunsbury Association, Hannover University. Leibniz (Germany). In October 2013, the Institute was admitted to the European Association of Conservatories as an active member. Thanks to this, 14 students of PSCI underwent internships in Germany and China, and 7 foreign students from Syria, Cuba, Italy, Belarus, and Armenia are currently studying at the university. It is expected that in the near future there will be more foreign students.
During 2013, a new effective management structure was created at the university. The system of administration has been optimized, the management of scientific and innovative activities, project management, concert and theater management, the management of extracurricular activities, and the press service have appeared.
A significant achievement of the university is the creation in 2013 Conservatories. This change ensured the involvement of leading Russian and world performers in the teaching staff of the university.
One of the directions of development of the university in present stage is an creation of strong international ties in science . On the basis of the educational institution, international symposia, conferences and congresses are annually held, among which are such scientific forums as "Art and Emotions", "Personality, Creativity, Art", "Spirituality, Dignity and Freedom of Man", etc. Well-known scientists from the Czech Republic, Hungary, Belgium, Spain, Italy, Israel, the USA, Canada, etc. take part in these meetings.
The university employs scientists recognized by the international scientific community. Among them, the head of the Department of Cultural Studies, Professor Oleg Leibovich, engaged in research on the history of Soviet everyday life and the history of Stalinism, professor at the Department of Cultural Studies, one of the leading Russian religious scholars Matvey Pismanik, Head of the Department of Psychology, Professor Leonid Dorfman, founder of his own scientific psychological school.
The scientific achievements of the university create an atmosphere for student research. Every year PSCI hosts a scientific and practical conference of students. The authors of the best reports receive cash prizes, most of the abstracts are published in the collection.
Over the past year, 7 international scientific conferences were held at the university, in which 5 prominent scientists took part.
Creative and performing activities The university is the most dynamically developing direction. The main priorities in this area are the implementation of socially significant creative projects and the positioning of PSCI at the Russian and international levels as an expert center and a center for continuous art education.
About 100 creative events are held annually on the basis of the university, during which more than 20 well-known foreign masters of art visit the institute to give lecture courses and conduct master classes. Teachers of PSCI annually take part in professional competitions of various levels. This year alone, 19 people received the title of laureate of the International or All-Russian competition, 7 teachers became diploma winners of professional competitions.
During 2013, the university launched large-scale creative projects: the Youth Theater "Academia", the Traveling Academy for Children and Youth (mobile master class), the "Tour Map of the Kama Region" (visiting theatrical and musical subscription), the interethnic cultural center "Ethno-Alliance" .
The scientific and educational activity of students would be impossible without the provision of modern technology used in specially equipped classrooms for classes, musical instruments, as well as the creation of comfortable living conditions in student dormitories located in the city center.
For almost 40 years, the institute has trained more than 10 thousand highly qualified specialists who have glorified their university, city, country on the world stage. The most famous of them: Vladimir Danilin , world famous illusionist, winner of numerous international competitions in his genre; Evgeny Panfilov , the creator of the dance theater and the original choreographic school known throughout the world; Sergey Raynik, artistic director of the Evgeny Panfilov Ballet Theatre; Sergey Fedotov , artistic director of the theater "At the Bridge", which also gained national and international fame for its original productions of plays by Russian classics and contemporary foreign authors; Galina Kokoulina director of the Perm Philharmonic; Nadezhda Kochurova First Deputy Prime Minister of the Government of the Perm Territory. Academy of Creativity at PGAIK for over 20 years now. Created in 1992 Music and Aesthetic Center for children aged 2 to 6 was one of the first institutions in Perm additional education for early childhood preschool age, which is based on the idea of an integrated approach to the formation of an integral, harmoniously developed personality. Hence the "set" of subjects of the educational cycle: musical theater, painting, choreography, piano. Soon, the Musical and Aesthetic Center was joined by music and choreographic schools, a painting studio and classes for parents, which formed the Academy of Arts for children and adults.
The teaching staff has created a comprehensive program for the musical and aesthetic development of children. Teachers of the Academy are participants in scientific and practical conferences, International Musical and Pedagogical Forums "Musical Performance and Pedagogy of the 21st Century", held in different years in Italy, Lithuania, Kyiv and Moscow.
Currently, the Academy is an exclusive educational project. Its uniqueness lies First of all, at the location of the educational institution. It is located in the center, in one of the most beautiful buildings in our city. Secondly, the teachers of the Academy developed a comprehensive training program, which was presented at All-Russian and International conferences. Looking into one of the institute's classrooms, you will see small easels and a painting teacher, under whose guidance masterpieces are born in 30 minutes. Children learn the basics of classical ballet in real choreographic classes with large mirrors and machines. And classes in musical theater are a small holiday, a real firework of emotions, in which both children and their parents take part with pleasure.
Only in our Academy, the only place in the city, piano learning starts from a very early age. The best teachers of the department of special piano work with children, who can see the future star in every kid.
And, indeed, the stars are lit. Laureate of international competitions, scholarship holder "Young talents of the Kama region" in 2008 in the nomination "Art", student of the choir of boys and young men Artem Kolodin and Laureate of the All-Russian competition "Magic Bow" Savely Khludnev are our graduates. Many of those who studied at the Academy of Creativity for Children continue to engage in creative work in the Children's Music School, Children's Art School, the choir of boys and young men, in secondary and higher educational institutions in the city of Perm.
Everyone knows how important it is to speak beautifully and correctly, to move plastically, how useful it is for a modern person to realize himself not only in his main job, but also in various types of art. Scientific and educational center of theatrical art of the Perm region (THEACENTER) opened at the Perm State Academy of Arts and Culture in 2007. This is a kind of theatrical "mini-museum", representing the 200-year history of the development of performing arts in the Perm Territory, from the first serf theaters to the present day. Its expositions reveal the history of more than 25 theater groups of the past and present, more than 700 actors, directors, artists, conductors, choreographers, and other theater figures of different times are represented. The history of the Perm State Institute of Culture begins in 1975. During its existence, PGIIC has trained more than 9 thousand specialists in the field of culture and arts, who work in all corners of Russia, in the countries of near and far abroad. For many years, the research activities of teachers have been aimed at studying the cultural and historical development of the region: the problems of the ethnic history of the Kama region, the dance folklore of the Urals. The focus of PGICC researchers is also on the cultural foundations and mechanisms of various types of social activities, organization and management in the field of culture, strategies and tactics of cultural policy, socio-cultural design and cultural protection activities, principles and technologies for the transfer of cultural values. The works of a number of teachers reflected the issues of pedagogy and methods of teaching special disciplines, the problems of theater technology in pedagogical creativity.
One of the priority scientific directions implemented in PGICC is the study of the psychology of art and creativity. Research in the field of psychology of art and creativity has received recognition both in Russia and abroad. A striking example of international cooperation was the holding during 1997-2005. a number of international conferences, symposiums and congresses.
Of particular methodological importance, both for determining the content aspects of education and for organizing the educational process, is the problem of understanding the nature and direction of vocational education. For the university of art and culture, this problem is actualized in theoretical understanding conceptual foundations cultural education. The research results are reflected in collections of scientific papers, materials of international and all-Russian scientific conferences, textbooks.

PGIIK provides training in two postgraduate specialties: 19.00.01 General psychology, personality psychology, history of psychology; 24.00.01 Theory and history of culture. In 2005, a cooperation agreement was concluded with the University of Cassino (Italy) on the preparation of postgraduate students.
University scientists take part in scientific and organizational events abroad, in particular, they are members of editorial boards or guest editors of collections of scientific papers and special issues of journals on foreign language: “The Russian psychology of art. Psychology and the Arts”, “Jornal of Russian and European psychology”, “Bulletin of Psychology and the Art”; act as co-leaders of international projects; deliver lectures at universities in the US and Europe.

By order of the Federal Service for Supervision in the Sphere of Science and Education (Rosobrnadzor) of the Ministry of Education of the Russian Federation No. 1286 dated 04.10.12, the Perm State Institute of Arts and Culture was given the status of an academy ( PGACC).
