Part one - PROLOGUE.

Seventy years have passed since one of the most terrible tragedies on the globe ended. But human memory brings us back again and again to those tragic events of World War II. Because the feat that people accomplished at the cost own life, cannot be forgotten. One of them was Captain Rytov Alexander Ivanovich, Hero of the Soviet Union.

Rytov Alexander Ivanovich was born on October 22, 1920 in the village of Zhabino, Yaroslavl region Yaroslavl region in a middle peasant family. The childhood of the three Rytov brothers and sisters was not easy, the children early experienced the bitterness of losing their closest people. In 1924, his mother died, and a few years later, his father. Four children left without parents were raised by an aunt. Throughout his short life, Alexander retained a warm sense of gratitude for this kind woman who replaced his mother. Sasha graduated from four classes in Zhabinskaya primary school, and a seven-year plan - in Burmakinskaya. Sasha was a sympathetic and diligent student. He loved mathematics, was fond of geography, photography. Together with his brother, he made aircraft models and dreamed of becoming a pilot.

In 1936, Sasha, a graduate of the Burmakinskaya school, entered the Rybinsk River College. But at some point he was conquered by aviation, and he goes to study at the city flying club. In the autumn of 1939, fate throws him a new "problem". The navigation department, where Alexander studied, is transferred to the Gorky River College. Only now he could not move - there was no money. What was to be done? Alexander remains in Rybinsk and enters part-time teacher courses high school while continuing to study as a pilot. In April 1940, a graduate of the flying club was drafted into the ranks of the Red Army and sent to study at the Balashov Flight School. After graduating from college, he underwent retraining at the IL-2. A life choice was made. A few years after graduating from military aviation school, he admitted in letters home: "I feel better in the air than on the ground."

Part two - WAR.

Il-2 attack aircraft, nicknamed the "flying tank".
04.

The combat path of the attack pilot began on March 3, 1942 at Northwestern front. He fought on the Kalinin, the first and second Belorussian fronts. The armored attack aircraft IL-2, on which Rytov A.I. defended his homeland from the Nazis, was one of our main aircraft during the Great Patriotic War. At the front, it was called the "flying tank". For 17 successful sorties near Stalingrad, the Yaroslavl received the Order of the Red Star. For excellent actions during the liberation of the cities of Velikiye Luki and Bely, he was awarded the Order of the Patriotic War, 2nd degree.

Soon he was promoted to flight commander, then squadron commander. On July 23, 1943, the eight attack aircraft, led by Rytov, discovered a fascist armored train on the stretch of the village of Buki - Tersben station. He held back the advance of the Soviet units. Anti-aircraft batteries opened furious fire on the aircraft, but did not stop the attack aircraft. "Falcons! Attack one by one!" - the pilots heard the commander's order. Rytov was the first to rush to the armored train. The wind whistled in my ears. A gap flashed before my eyes. Shrapnel rattled against the fuselage. Press the trigger - and the bombs rushed to a narrow strip of the path. The car jumped up. Fiery sultans of explosions swirled. For 18 minutes, the group stormed the armored train with anti-tank and high-explosive bombs, cannon-machine-gun fire and rockets. The Nazi armored train was destroyed. Developing the success of the pilots, our troops captured a number of settlements, including the Tersben station. Captain Rytov was awarded the Order of the Red Banner for this sortie.

From July to August 1944, fighting on the Belorussian front, Rytov's squadron made 63 successful sorties, not losing a single pilot, not a single aircraft. Rytov's chest was adorned with the Order of Alexander Nevsky.
Operating as part of the 2nd Belorussian Front, the squadron made another 263 successful sorties. On the most important flights, the commander led the squadron. The Soviet Army advanced victoriously across Poland, liberating the fraternal Polish people. The conditions were difficult.

On October 10, 1944, Captain Rytov, at the head of twelve IL-2 aircraft, dealt a crushing blow to the artillery positions of the Nazis. Having rebuilt in a "circle", the squadron, under the fierce fire of the enemy from a dive and cannon-machine-gun fire, "processed the target." In one of the approaches in the cockpit of Rytov Alexander Ivanovich, an enemy anti-aircraft gun exploded. It was the 94th flight of the Yaroslavl.

On October 27, 1944, on the day when the regiment was awarded the honorary title - the 189th Guards Brest Assault Aviation Regiment, on the outskirts of the liberated village of Piuts, among the wreckage of IL-2, the bodies of the heroic crew were found. With military honors, Captain Rytov and the air gunner of the guard, Senior Sergeant Kolesnikov, were buried in the village of Lyasy on the banks of the Narew River in the garden of the peasant Franchisko Lisinsky. At the funeral meeting, the pilots of the squadron vowed to take revenge on the invaders for their beloved commander. On the sides of their aircraft, they wrote the battle motto: “For Alexander Rytov! Death to the Nazis!

The commander of the regiment, Hero of the Soviet Union, Lieutenant Colonel Slyunkin and the deputy commander for political affairs of the guards, Lieutenant Colonel Bsyrzhik, wrote to the pilot's sister Ekaterina Ivanovna: “Your brother, Captain Alexander Ivanovich Rytov, has shown himself to be a courageous defender and a glorious falcon of our Motherland. Fighting, fearless pilot-commander ... for courage and courage he was awarded five orders ... He was, is and will be the favorite and pride of our unit.

By the decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of February 23, 1945, for the exemplary performance of the combat missions of the command, for courage and heroism in battles with the fascist invaders of the guard, Captain Rytov Alexander Ivanovich was posthumously awarded the title of Hero of the Soviet Union.

One of the largest of 508 graves of Soviet soldiers in Poland. Currently, the remains of about 17,500 Red Army soldiers are buried in the cemetery.

13.

In the central part of the cemetery there is an obelisk in the form of a bayonet, sculptures of soldiers are depicted on both sides. On the obelisk there is a memorial plaque with the inscription: "To the heroic soldiers of the Soviet Army - the liberators of Poland, who fell in the fight against the Nazi occupiers."

When in 1946 the exhumation of the field graves of Soviet soldiers who fell between September 1944 and January 1945 in the battles near Makuv was carried out, 15,549 deaths were registered. Their remains were solemnly buried in 614 mass graves for soldiers and 50 mass graves for officers at the military cemetery in Makow Mazowiecki (80 kilometers north of Warsaw).

Later, the remains of Soviet soldiers from single and mass graves from the surrounding settlements were reburied at the cemetery.

17.

Unfortunately, the names of only 2710 soldiers and officers buried here are known. The area of the cemetery is 3.5 hectares.

Part Four - POLK
34.

Sergeant Major Alexander Rytov began his military career at the front on March 3, 1942, as part of the 568th assault aviation regiment, 231st assault aviation division.

On July 1, 1943, Lieutenant A. Rytov continued to serve as deputy squadron commander in the 946th assault aviation regiment, 231st assault aviation division.

For successful fighting in operations to liberate Belarus, the 946th assault aviation regiment received the honorary name of Brest. Order of the NPO of August 9, 1944 on the basis of the Order of the Supreme High Command No. 157 of July 28, 1944.

By a decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of August 9, 1944, the 946th Brest Assault Aviation Regiment was awarded the Order of Suvorov III degree.

On October 10, 1944, Captain Alexander Ivanovich Rytov, commander of squadron 946 of the Brest Order of Suvorov, 3rd degree assault aviation regiment, 231 assault aviation division, died a heroic death.

And 17 days after the death of A. Rytov, the 946th Brest Order of Suvorov, 3rd degree, assault aviation regiment, by order of the NPO of the USSR No. 0340 dated 10/27/44 was transformed into the 189th Guards Brest Order of Suvorov, 3rd degree assault aviation regiment.
Therefore, in many publications there is a "guard captain" A. Rytov.

The personnel of the 189th Guards Brest Order of Suvorov, 3rd class, assault aviation regiment after the victory at the walls of the destroyed Reichstag, May 1945.

35.

After the war, the regiment was based in Poland SGV (Northern Group of Forces), from 1945 to 1961. In March 1960, the 189th Guards "Brest" Order of Suvorov III degree assault aviation regiment was transformed into the 189th Guards "Brest" Order of Suvorov III degree fighter-bomber aviation regiment.
Locations of the regiment in Poland cities: Legnica, Zhagan, Olawa, Brzeg. And then the withdrawal of the regiment to the territory of the USSR in the Chita region, Borzya-2 airfield "Chindant".

At that time, there was such a kind of encouragement as a photograph of a regiment being awarded at the unfolded banner. Private Rudolf Goryashin was also honored with this honor, on November 7, 1958, on the day of the Great October socialist revolution. The banner bears the Order of Suvorov III degree. Chita region, Borzya-2 1983.

39.

By the Decree of the President of the Russian Federation and the Directive of the General Staff of the Air Force of April 28, 1998, the 120th IAP and the 189th Guards Bomber Brest Order of Suvorov III degree aviation regiment were formed into the 120th Guards Fighter Aviation "Brest" Order of Suvorov III degree regiment with the transfer of an honorary name, Battle Banner, order and form 189 Guards. bap. Location Domna, Chita region.

"By the Directive of the Commander-in-Chief of the Air Force of April 28, 1998, the 120th IAP accepted the Battle Banner and all the regalia from the disbanded 189th Guards BAP, becoming known as the 120th Guards Fighter Aviation "Brest" Order of Suvorov III degree regiment." With the place of deployment, the village of Domna, Chita Region, is now the Trans-Baikal Territory.

On December 1, 2009, the 120th Guards IAP was transformed into a fighter aviation squadron, which became part of the 320th Aviation Base. And exactly one year later it was reorganized into the third and fourth squadrons, which became part of the 412th air base. Base location Domna, Trans-Baikal Territory.

On December 1, 2010, based on the instructions of the General Staff of the RF Armed Forces of June 19, 2010 and the Directive of the General Staff of the Air Force of August 12, 2010, the 412th Aviation Base was formed at the Trans-Baikal military airfield in the village of Domna. The new formation included personnel and equipment of the 120th Guards IAP, 266th Cap and 112th OVP, which by that time were components of the 320th AB. Base location Domna, Trans-Baikal Territory.

And here I would like to draw attention to the fact that, unfortunately, in the full name of the 412th air base you will not find anything that would speak of the glorious past of the units from which it was formed.

Part five - EPILOGUE. DOMNA ZABAIKALSKY REGION

40.

Since the formation of 412 AB, the service of the pilot Alexander Rytov, enrolled in 189 AP, has ended forever. During this time, the regiment lost a pilot twice, the first time on October 10, 1944, and the second time on December 1, 2010. Moreover, the second time the pilot died along with the regiment.
Today, the successor of the regiment is the 412th air base in Domna, Trans-Baikal Territory. But the base does not have the name "Brestskaya", there is no Order of Suvorov 3rd degree on the banner, and there is no Hero of the Soviet Union Guards Captain Alexander Ivanovich Rytov.
There is no dry cargo ship "Alexander Rytov" that has served its time. There is no new ship that could bear this name. There is no memorial to A. Rytov in Borza.
But what is there?

And there is still a grave in the Polish cemetery. True, no one has looked after the cemetery for several years.
There is a monument in the courtyard of his native school and a museum.
There are memorable signs in the cities of Rybinsk and Balashov.
And finally, the most important thing is the human memory of those where he was born and raised, where he studied and worked.
There is a memory of veterans who served in the regiment.
And there are simply people who do not know that there was such a hero A. Rytov, thanks to whose feat they live on this earth and in this country.
There is a guy in the glorious city of Kaluga, Vasily Bulanov, who visited the Polish cemetery twice in 2014 and 2015. And immediately after the first visit, I wrote a letter to President Putin about the state of affairs at this cemetery.

President's response.

There is also the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation and Supreme Commander Rf, on which this desire depends. And which with one stroke of the pen can easily solve this problem. There is faith and hope that everything will be so.

When this material was already written, in the city of Chita, Trans-Baikal Territory, on November 12, 2015, one very significant event took place. A memorial plaque was opened on the territory of the Road Clinical Hospital in memory of the veteran doctors of the railway hospital at the Chita-1 station - participants in the Great Patriotic War Nina Isakovna Vasilevskaya, Vera Petrovna Dzyubo, Elizaveta Aleksandrovna Kirichenko and Maria Grigorievna Uryutina.

As it turned out, Vera Petrovna Dzyuba served in the same regiment with A. Rytov. In 1941, she went to the front from the 5th year of the medical institute and in August of the same year became the senior doctor of the 568th assault aviation regiment. And his first two awards were the Order of the Red Star and the Order Patriotic War A. Rytov received 2 degrees while serving in this regiment. Further, A. Rytov continued his service in 946 ShAP. These two regiments of the same division fought together throughout the war. In simple terms, as two students in one school, only one studied in 10 "A" class and the other in 10 "B" class. This is how the memory of the war brought together former fellow soldiers, now not at the front, but on the Trans-Baikal land.

From the aviation school with the replenishment of 15 people arrived at Western Front v946shap (assault aviation regiment). Almost all settlements destroyed, burned. The trees are all beaten, without tops. The population, like us, lives in ravines, dugouts. After the liberation of Smolensk (09/25/43), all the surviving pilots of the regiment (15 people) left for new aircraft in Kuibyshev (Samara). We heat the "cramped stove", as in the song. Dining room with no roof. The bath is also in a dilapidated house. Hot water is supplied from the boiler. For cold we go to the stream. For breakfast, lunch and dinner, millet is served. There are no other products. There is no transportation. Roads, including railways, are destroyed. Learning to shoot from personal weapons. Fortunately, there is plenty of ammunition in the abandoned trenches.

In January, part of the replenishment, including my friend Ya.Ya. Kremlev and me are transferred to the 570th Cap (later the 190th Guards Cap). In front of us here in the Keys was the French squadron "Normandy-Niemen". It's more comfortable here. We live indoors.

In 3rd Japan, an Il-2 aircraft and crew are appointed: a mechanic, minder, gunsmith. The gunner-radio operator should arrive with replenishment. Squadron commander Vladimir Fridrikhovich Coat of arms is missing. He led a group of new aircraft from Kuibyshev. After refueling in Moscow, they were allowed to take off in bad weather. In flight, the propellers and wings iced over. Fog on the ground. All planes crashed. Deputy Gerba M.A. Popov at advanced training courses.

The population shovels snow into high shafts, clearing the runway. She is very narrow. On the first training flights in a circle, gunsmith Tanya Lukomskaya asks for permission to fly in the cockpit of a gunner-radio operator. During landing, the tail wheel breaks.

Then she hangs me a bomb. By order of the regiment commander I.P. Melnikov, I fly to the training ground. On takeoff, I deviate in the direction. Having hit a snow bank, the plane bounces 75 meters, then it does not know where to fall: on the tail or on the nose. I see people looking with surprise at my somersault. God! Where does a person get so much strength in mortal situations! There was enough strength to break the afterburner lever, twisted with wire. The engine roared, the plane rocked and flew forward.

Flew to the landfill. Dropped the bomb and came back. Reported to the commander of the regiment on the completion of the task. He patted me on the shoulder and said that I would live long.

On the same day, in a neighboring regiment, my fellow countryman and classmate at the aviation school, Viktor Klementyev, died in the same situation.
