Airplanes and nuclear bombs among primitive savages who did not know metal? Where did they get them from, and why? How could they use them? Against whom were weapons used to destroy entire nations? After all, then there were no states and cities on Earth yet!.. Against the same hunters and gatherers, like them, who lived in a nearby cave? Hardly, sounds somehow ridiculous and ridiculous. Then against whom?

It is much easier to imagine that at the time when aircraft were used and destructive weapons were used, there were simply no savages. Perhaps they lived somewhere - in forests, caves. But in the society of that time they were assigned a secondary and inconspicuous role. And the peoples who had achieved the highest scientific and technological progress, who built big cities and created powerful states. Being on more high level development than our society, they used aviation, waged brutal wars with each other and plowed the expanses of the universe, sending spaceships to other planets and even to other galaxies.

During the time that has passed since the writing of the first article on aircraft, I have studied a large number of new publications and primary sources. In the process of their study, extraordinary pictures appeared to my mind's eye. They represented the former inhabitants of our planet, who sometimes looked like, and sometimes did not look like people at all. I traveled through the mysterious Hyperborea and walked through the city of the gods - Amaravati, saw air fleets from light aircraft controlled by Gandharvas and Apsaras, and Indra himself showed me the weapon of the gods to his son Arjuna.

At distant Kailash in the city of Alaka, I visited the one-eyed giant of the three-legged god of wealth Kubera and saw his formidable guards of giant yakshas, many-armed rakshasas and nairrits, who guarded the approaches to treasures hidden in the dungeons.

I was on the battlefields where gods and demons fought first, and then their human descendants - Pandavas and Kauravas. I still see mountains of mangled corpses and scorched land, scorched by the heat of the weapons of the gods, on which nothing has grown for many, centuries. Before my eyes and now there are ominous visions of splits earth's crust and gaping abysses filled with seething magma, earth trembling underfoot and crumbling mountains, and then a huge wave that crumbled and washed away everything around, leaving behind only a dead, lifeless desert.

After the devastations that took place on Earth, there was nothing left of the former powerful civilizations: earthquakes, lava flows, which circled around Earth a gigantic wave, huge glaciers mercilessly destroyed everything that is called the cultural layer. Only the earlier sediments remained, containing the remains of the pre-progressive hunters and gatherers who so confused our history and who again entered the historical arena after the last great cataclysm, which occurred, according to the most common dates, about 12 thousand years ago.

This short introduction to the article was not written by chance. My goal is to let you know that this time I will not express my surprise at where such unusual knowledge came from among ancient people. As a little three-year-old man would say about this, “from there”. Yes, it was from there - from the world in which they lived, which was destroyed and died during a global catastrophe; But knowledge is echoes. of that distant time - miraculously survived. It is possible that ancient manuscripts were preserved in underground shelters, as Plato wrote about. Probably, together with them, some eyewitnesses of the events of that distant time were able to survive the catastrophe. Ancient knowledge has come down to us in the form of numerous legends about aircraft, about destroying all living weapons, about the wanderings of demigods and mortals through star systems. So let's just see what the most ancient books on Earth tell us, many of which were written long before the time of Plato and Julius Caesar, and no one doubts their authenticity.

Ancient Indian texts are full of references to distant worlds, stars, planets, flying cities roaming the expanses of the Universe, celestial chariots and carriages that cover vast distances at the speed of thought. Half of the human race in them generally traces its genealogy to aliens from the Cosmos - Adityas, who are called demigods in Indian legends, and Daityas with danavas, who belong to demons. Both of them were not much different from people in appearance, although, apparently, they were taller.

This is how the conquest of the Earth by the Adityas, Daityas and Danavas is described in the first book of the Mahabharata:

“The holy sages describe what happened in this way. Once upon a time, the divine tribe of the Adityas, who ruled the Universe, were at enmity with their demonic cousins, the Daityas, and one day... the Adityas inflicted a complete defeat on them...

Leaving their combat positions on the higher planets… the Daityas… decided that they would first be born on the small planet Earth… and thus effortlessly subjugate our tiny planet to their power. Having become the masters of the Earth, they intended to challenge the divine Adityas in return and thus enslave the Universe.

…Daityas… entered the wombs of the earthly queens and… were born among the members royal families st. With age, the Daityas began to show themselves as imperious and proud monarchs ...

…Their number in this world has increased so much that… The Earth was unable to bear the burden of their presence. But despite this, they continued to flood the earth, and they became more and more.

In order to save our planet from the invasion of the Daityas with the Danavas, “Lord Indra and other demigods decided to descend to the earth… The celestials began descending to the earth in a continuous succession…, the inhabitants of heaven were born in the clans of benevolent sages and kings and began to kill impious danavas, cannibals Rakshasas…, sorcerers in snake form and various other creatures that devoured people alive.

As you can guess from the passages of the Mahabharata quoted above, the Daityas, Danavas and Adityas came to Earth from some other inhabited planets, and possibly from other star systems. Most likely, they used spaceships for their movement in space, which they delivered to Earth in large numbers. There were really a lot of such ships, and they performed various functions: from intergalactic flights to flights in the Earth's atmosphere.

Flying cities of gods and demons

Indian legends brought to us the names of two outstanding designers of spaceships. They were the skilled artist and architect of the Danavas Maya Danava and the architect of the gods Vishvakarman. Maya Danava3 was considered the teacher of all Mayavis who were capable of evoking magical powers.

Flying cities were considered the main creation of Maya Danava. According to the Mahabharata, Srimad Bhagavatam, Vishnu Parva and other ancient Indian texts, he built many beautifully decorated cities, which had everything for a long residence of people (or demons). The third book of the Mahabharata, for example, speaks of the flying city of Hiranyapura4. This city, floating in the sky, was seen by the descendant of the Adityas, the son of the god Indra Arjuna, when he traveled in an air chariot through the heavenly regions after a great victory over the inhabitants of the deep sea, the Nivatakavachas.

"Arjuna said:

“On the way back, I saw a huge and amazing city, capable of moving anywhere ... Four entrances with watchtowers above the gates led to this marvelous, impregnable miracle [city] ...”.

On this journey, Arjuna was accompanied by a Gandharva pilot named Matali, whom he asked what the miracle was. Matali replied:

“In this marvelous, floating through the air [city] ... live danavas - paulomas and kalakeys5. This great city is called Hiranyapura, and is guarded by mighty demons, the sons of Puloma and Kalaki. And they live here ... in eternal joy, without worries ..., and the gods are not able to destroy them.

The great city of Hiranyapura could move freely in the sky and in open space, swim on water, dive under water and even underground.

Another creation of Maya Danava was the "iron flying city" Saubha (Skt. Saubha - "prosperity", "happiness"), presented to the Daitya king Shalva. According to the Bhagavata Purana, "this impregnable ship ... could fly anywhere." It could not be destroyed by the aditya devas, demons, or humans. He could influence the weather and create tornadoes, lightning, become visible and invisible, move through the air and under water. Sometimes it seemed that many ships appeared in the sky, and sometimes not a single one was visible. Saubha was seen either on the ground, or in the sky, or landing on the top of a mountain, or floating on the water. This amazing ship flew across the sky like a fiery whirlwind, not remaining motionless for a moment.

A similar flying ship-city Vaihayasu (Skt. Vaihauasa - “located in the open air”), presented to the commander-in-chief Maharaja Bali, the son of the Daitya king Virochana, is mentioned in the eighth song of the Srimad-Bhagavatam:

“This beautifully decorated ship was built by the demon Maya and equipped with weapons fit for any kind of battle. It was impossible to imagine and describe. For example, he was sometimes visible, and sometimes invisible ..., like the moon rising from the horizon, illuminating everything around.

In the Shiva Purana, Maya Danava is credited with the creation of three "flying cities, intended for the sons of the king of the Daityas or Danavas Taraki:

“Then, the extremely wise and skillful Maya ... built cities: gold for Tarakashi, silver for Kamalaksha and steel for Vidyumali. These three excellent, fortress-like cities regularly served in heaven and on earth... Thus, entering the three cities, the sons of Taraki, mighty and valiant, enjoyed all the joys of life. Many kalpa trees grew there. Elephants and horses were in abundance. There were many palaces there ... Air chariots shining like a sun disk ... moving in all directions and like moons illuminated the city.

Another “great architect of the Universe” and builder of flying ships, architect and designer of the gods (Adityas) Vishvakarman (Skt. Vicyakarman - “all-creating”) is credited with the construction of a flying ship donated by Indra to Arjuna:

“The chariot was equipped with all the necessary equipment. Neither gods nor demons could defeat her, she radiated light and made a low rumbling noise. Her beauty captivated the hearts of all who saw her. This chariot… was cooped by the divine architect Vishvakarman; and its outlines were as difficult to distinguish as the outlines of the sun. On this chariot, brightly shining with its splendor, Soma defeated the wicked danavas ”(“ Adiparva ”).

Another creation of Vishvakarman is a huge flying chariot Pushpaka (Skt. Puspaka - "blooming"), which successively belonged to the serpentine god of wealth and treasures Kubera, the leader of the Rakshasas Havana and the earthly incarnation of the god Vishnu - Rama.

Vishvakarman also appears to have built large "flying public houses" from which the adityas exercised their administration. From them, they also watched the course of the battles. Here, for example, is an excerpt from the Mahabharata, which tells about the air palace for the meetings of Shakra (Indra):

“The majestic and luxurious palace of Shakra, which he conquered with his exploits, he nocmpoiled for himself ... with the splendor and splendor of fire. It was one hundred yojanas wide and one hundred and fifty yojanas long, airy, free-moving, and five yojanas high. Dispelling old age, sorrow and fatigue, free from disease, fertile, beautiful, with many rooms, bedrooms and places to rest, lively and adorned with magnificent trees that grew everywhere in this estate ... where the lord of the Wogs sat with Sachi (the wife of the god Indra -A.F.)".

In addition to the large spaceships and interplanetary stations described and others like them (I'm not afraid to call the flying cities of gods and demons with these words), there were celestial chariots and smaller air crews. Judging by the numerous episodes from the Mahabharata, the Bhagavata Purana, the Shiva Purana and other ancient Indian texts, there were a lot of both in the old days.

To confirm this, I will quote two passages from the Mahabharata:

“... Matali pierced the firmament (and found himself) in the world of the wise.

He showed me… (other) air chariots…

On a chariot harnessed with buckwheat, we ascended higher and higher ...

... Then the self-moving worlds, the worlds of the divine rishes (we passed),

Gapdharvas, Apsaras, the gods are magnificent lands ... ".

“At this very time…

A mighty sound arose, from the celestials (it came from), from the firmament ...

Many Gandharvas and Apsaras accompanied me on all sides.”

Approximately the same accumulation of air chariots is mentioned in the fragments mentioned in my first article from the Jain text of the 8th century Mahavira Bhavabhuti, collected from older texts and traditions, and in the Bhagavata Purana:

“The air chariot, Pushpaka, brings many people to the capital of Ayodhya. The sky is full of huge flying machines, black as night, but dotted with lights of a yellowish glow ... ".

To the stars. Space flights of gods and mortals

In the Mahabharata, Srimad Bhagavatam, Vishnu Purana and other ancient Indian texts, space travel by airships performed by gods, demons, heroes (born from gods and mortal women) and various mythical creatures is repeatedly described:

“I was a famous Vidyadhara named Sudarshana. I was very rich and handsome and flew everywhere in my airship…”.

“Chitraketu, the lord of the vidyadharas, set off on a journey through the vast expanses of the Universe ... Once, wandering in the heavens on his dazzlingly shining airship, he arrived at the abode of Shiva ...”

“Flying through space, Maharaja Dhurva saw all the planets one by one solar system and saw on his way demigods on celestial chariots.

Thus Maharaja Dhurva passed through the seven planetary systems of the great sages, known as Saptarishis, the seven stars of the constellation Ursa Major…”

“A descendant of the Kuru dynasty, King Vasu could travel beyond the Earth in the upper regions of our Universe, and therefore in those distant times he became famous under the name of Upari-chara,

"Wandering through higher worlds". Unlike the Vidyadharas, the Siddhas could travel through space without the aid of aircraft. And here is how Vasu got his flying machine from Indra:

“I (Indra - A.F.) reward you with the rarest gift - to know about everything that happens within this Universe. I also grant you a crystal sky ship - the delight of the gods. This amazing ship is already on its way to you, and soon you, the only one among mortals, will step aboard it. Thus, like one of the gods, you will travel among the higher planets of this universe.”

Another hero of the Mahabharata, Arjuna, also flew around the Cosmos in an air chariot given to him by Indra:

“And on this sun-like, miraculous divine chariot, the wise descendant of Kuru flew up. Becoming invisible to mortals walking on the earth, he saw thousands of wonderful air chariots. There was no light, no sun, no moon, no fire, but they shone with their own light, acquired through their merits. Because of the distance, the light of the stars is visible as a tiny flame of a lamp, but in reality they are very large. Pandava (Arjuna - A.F.) saw them bright and beautiful, shining with the light of their own fire ... ”,

Another traveler in the universe was the sage Kardama Muni. Having married the daughter of King Swayambhuva Manu - Devahuti, and received a "wonderful flying palace", he and his wife went on a journey through various planetary systems:

“So he traveled from one planet to another, like a wind that blows everywhere without encountering obstacles. Moving through the air in his magnificent, radiant castle in the air, which flew, obedient to his will, he surpassed even the demigods ... ".

Principles of travel in the universe

In addition to flying cities and celestial chariots, which were most likely spaceships, interplanetary stations and aircraft, special mention should be made of the horses "bred by the Gandharvas" of a special breed. Here is how they are described in the Mahabharata:

“The horses of the gods and Gandharvas exude a heavenly fragrance and can gallop with the speed of thought. Even when their strength is exhausted, they still do not slow down ... The horses of the Gandharvas can change color at will and rush at any speed they want. It is enough just to mentally wish that they immediately appear before you, ready for the fulfillment of your will. These horses are always ready to fulfill your wishes.”

Richard L. Thompson in his book Aliens. A look from the depths of centuries" showed that these are some "mystical horses", the properties of which are based on the laws governing subtle material energies. These laws were well known to ancient scientists, but modern specialists know almost nothing about them. After analyzing the ancient Indian primary sources, Thompson came to the conclusion that the horses of the Gandharvas "jumped" along certain "roads" called "roads of the Siddhas", "roads of the stars" and "paths of the gods". The fact that they could cover great distances in a short time was due to the fact that the Siddhas' roads also obeyed the laws that govern subtle energies, and not the laws that govern ordinary, gross matter.

According to R.L. Thompson, the gross human body, subject to mystical forces - siddhas, called prapti and mano-java, could (and still can!) be transferred along these same roads. According to the Mahabharata and other ancient Indian texts, the inhabitants of the planetary systems of Siddhaloka, the Siddhas, mastered these forces to perfection. Therefore, they could freely move in space without aircraft.

On the basis of what laws did the “flight” of “horses”, chariots and people along the roads of the Siddhas take place? Based on the laws governing subtle material energies. These laws could cause gross matter (such as the human body) to act in violation of the normal laws of physics.

In other words, there was a "dematerialization" of the gross human body, machines and mechanisms and their "reassembly" in other parts of the Universe. Such journeys, apparently, could only take place in certain stellar corridors, tunnels, or, as we called them at the beginning, roads, within which space and time were, as it were, “folded”. Based on the analysis of the text of the Vishnu Purana, R. L. Thompson determined which road Arjuna was driving on. Here is an excerpt from his book “Aliens. A look from the depths of centuries":

“The Bishnu Purana states that the Path of the Gods (devayana) lies north of the orbit of the Sun (ecliptic), north of the Nagavitha (nakshatras of Ashvini, Bharani and Kritika) and south of the stars of the seven rishis. Ashvini and Bharani are the constellations in Aries, north of the ecliptic, while Krittika is the constellation adjacent to the constellation Taurus, known as the Pleiades. Ashwini, Bharani and Krittika belong to a group of twenty-eight constellations called nakshatras in Sanskrit. The seven rishis are the stars of the Dipper in Ursa Major. With this information, we can make general idea about the Path of the Gods as a road stretching through the stars in the northern celestial hemisphere.

Another important celestial road is the Path of the Pitas (or Pitra-yana). According to the Vishnu Purana, this road lies north of the star Agastya and south of Ajavitha (the three nakshatras of Mula, Purvashadha and Uttarashadha), without intersecting with the path of Vaishvanara. The region of the pitas, or Pitraloka, in the Vedic literature is called the abode of Yama, the deity who assigns punishments to sinful human beings ... This region, as well as the hellish planets, are located, as they say in the Bhagavata Purana, on the southern side of the Universe, south of Bhu- mandala, planetary system, which includes the Earth.

The nakshatras Mula, Purvashadha and Uttarashadha partly correspond to the constellations of Scorpio and Sagittarius, and it is believed that Agastya is a star called Canopis. Thus, according to the descriptions in the Vishnu Purana, we can imagine where the Pitraloka and the road leading to it are located, using the celestial landmarks familiar to us.

Well, unfortunately, it's time to put an end to my short story about the amazing Indian legends about aircraft and weapons of gods and demons.

The origins of these legends are lost in times so distant from us that we. humanity now living on Earth is not able to name even a prilitary date of their compilation. It is only known that most of them were included in ancient Indian manuscripts written in Sh-P thousand. BC e. - X century. n. e., and according to some sources, even earlier - in the 4th or 6th millennium BC. e. There are even more fantastic versions that the authors of some books, such as the Vedas (Rigveda, Samaveda, Atharvaveda, Yajurveda), Nimalatpurana, were snake-people - nagas, and the time of the events described in the legends was separated from us by many millions of years.

Whatever it was, now I can say with certainty only one thing. In very ancient times (tens of thousands or maybe millions of years ago), intelligent beings lived on Earth, who far surpassed modern people in their knowledge. They ruled states, lived in large and small cities, flew to other planets, and the spaceships they created plied the expanses of the Universe. Our planet was densely populated and different peoples lived on it, unlike each other, who fought with each other. As a result of the wars between them, such severe destruction and devastation took place on Earth that they “teared out” entire pages from the Book of its history.

In the words of the ancient Greek philosopher Plato, only a “dead, lifeless desert” remained on Earth. After hundreds or thousands of years, life revived again on the planet and primitive hunters and gatherers entered the historical arena, the remains of which are usually found by archaeologists and geologists. But ancient knowledge was preserved. Most likely, individual representatives of the ancient highly developed races, who became kings and priests, also survived in underground shelters.

Having become acquainted with Indian traditions (and not only with Indian ones), it is impossible to reason otherwise. Therefore, I do not understand how it could happen at all that many modern researchers do not pay due attention to them. Either they simply remain in the dark about this most valuable layer of literature, or they prefer to consider everything written as nothing more than fiction and a fairy tale.

The main arguments of the supporters of the traditional theory of human evolution that we still do not have the material remains of such ancient and powerful civilizations (unlike the finds of bones and household items of primitive hunters and gatherers) turn out to be not so unshakable at the first attempt to bring even the shortest list of these residues. The ruins of Tiahuanaco and Saxauman in Bolivia and Peru are more than 12 thousand years old, Ica stones depicting animals that died out 150-200 thousand years ago, slabs, columns, figurines, vases, pipes, nails, coins and other objects in layers from 1 up to 600 million years, numerous rock carvings and seals depicting horned people, traces of humanoid creatures in deposits aged 135-250 million years in Texas, Kentucky, Nevada and Turkmenistan, an iron hammer from the Lower Cretaceous deposits of Texas ...

Perhaps scientists are simply avoiding answering the question of what all these finds really are. After all, none of them fit into the framework of the theory of the origin of life, which is still taught in schools and universities.

But something else is also possible. There are influential forces that are not interested in publishing such ancient knowledge. Therefore, they are in a hurry to declare all the discoveries made as a game of nature, skillfully made fakes, and anything else, but not genuine discoveries. And the finds themselves disappear without a trace and ... settle in top-secret laboratories, leaving most scientists, and even ordinary people in ignorance and bewilderment.

However, the question is whether there Sumerian civilization remained only a scientific hypothesis until, in 1877, an employee of the French consulate in Baghdad, Ernest de Sarzhak, made a discovery that became a historical milestone in the study of the Sumerian civilization.

In Tello, at the foot of a high hill, he found a figurine made in a completely unknown style. Monsieur de Sarzhac organized excavations there, and sculptures, figurines and clay tablets began to appear from the earth, decorated with ornaments never seen before.

Among the many items found was a statue of green diorite stone depicting the king and high priest of the city-state of Lagash. The most interesting and "informative" works of applied art, found in the course of lengthy excavations, were Sumerian seals. The earliest examples date back to around 3000 BC. These were stone cylinders 1 to 6 cm high, often with a hole: apparently, many owners of seals wore them around their necks. Inscriptions (in mirror image) and drawings were cut out on the working surface of the seal.

Various documents were fastened with such seals, they were placed by craftsmen on made pottery. Documents were compiled by the Sumerians not on scrolls of papyrus or parchment, and not on sheets of paper, but on tablets of raw clay. After drying or firing such a tablet, the text and seal impression could be preserved for a long time.

The images on the seals were very diverse. The most ancient of them are mythical creatures: bird people, animal people, various flying objects, balls in the sky. There are gods in helmets, standing near the "tree of life", heavenly boats above the lunar disk, carrying creatures similar to people.

It should be noted that the motif known to us as the “tree of life” is interpreted by modern scientists in different ways. Some consider it an image of a certain ritual structure, others - a memorial stele. And, according to some, the "tree of life" is a graphical representation of the DNA double helix, the carrier of the genetic information of all living organisms.

The Sumerians knew the structure of the solar system

Experts in Sumerian culture consider one of the most mysterious seals to be the one that depicts the solar system. It was studied, among other scientists, by one of the most prominent astronomers of the 20th century, Carl Sagan.

The image on the press irrefutably testifies that 5-6 thousand years ago the Sumerians knew that it was the Sun, and not the Earth, that was the center of our "near space". There is no doubt about this: the Sun on the seal is located in the middle, and it is much larger than the celestial bodies surrounding it.

However, the most surprising and important is not even this. The figure shows all the planets known to us today, and in fact the last of them, Pluto, was discovered only in 1930.

But this, as they say, is not all. First, in the Sumerian diagram, Pluto is not in its current location, but between Saturn and Uranus. And secondly, between Mars and Jupiter, the Sumerians placed some other celestial body.

Zecharia Sitchin on Nibiru

He is convinced that the celestial body depicted on the seal and unknown to us today is another, the tenth planet of the solar system - Marduk-Nibiru.

An argument in favor of such a radical Sitchin hypothesis is the conclusion of a number of scientists, including Carl Sagan, that Sumerian civilization possessed vast knowledge in the field of astronomy, which can only be explained by the consequence of their contacts with a certain extraterrestrial civilization.

These three excellent, fortress-like cities regularly served in heaven and on earth... Thus, entering the three cities, the sons of Taraki, mighty and valiant, enjoyed all the joys of life. Many kalpa trees grew there. Elephants and horses were in abundance. There were many palaces there ... Air chariots shining like a sun disk ... moving in all directions and like moons illuminated the city.

“The chariot was equipped with all the necessary equipment. Neither gods nor demons could defeat her, she radiated light and made a low rumbling noise. Her beauty captivated the hearts of all who saw her. This chariot… was cooped by the divine architect Vishvakarman; and its outlines were as difficult to distinguish as the outlines of the sun. On this chariot, brightly shining with its splendor, Soma defeated the wicked danavas ”(“ Adiparva ”).

“The majestic and luxurious palace of Shakra, which he conquered with his exploits, he nocmpoiled for himself ... with the splendor and splendor of fire. It was one hundred yojanas wide and one hundred and fifty yojanas long, airy, free-moving, and five yojanas high. On a chariot harnessed with buckwheat, we ascended higher and higher ...

Gapdharvas, Apsaras, the gods are magnificent lands ... ".

A mighty sound arose, from the celestials (it came from), from the firmament ...

Many Gandharvas and Apsaras accompanied me on all sides.”

“The air chariot, Pushpaka, brings many people to the capital of Ayodhya. The sky is full of huge flying machines, black as night, but dotted with lights of a yellowish glow ... ".

“... O unborn, o blue-necked (Shiva - A. F.) ... Look at the sky, which has become so beautiful, because strings of white, like swans, airships are floating along it ... ".

To the stars. Space flights of gods and mortals

“I was a famous Vidyadhara named Sudarshana. I was very rich and handsome and flew everywhere in my airship…”.

“Flying through space, Dhurva Maharaja saw one by one all the planets of the solar system and saw on his way the demigods on celestial chariots.

Thus Maharaja Dhurva passed through the seven planetary systems of the great sages, known as Saptarishis, the seven stars of the constellation Ursa Major…”

“A descendant of the Kuru dynasty, King Vasu could travel beyond the Earth in the upper regions of our Universe, and therefore in those distant times he became famous under the name of Upari-chara,

"Wandering in the Higher Worlds". Unlike the Vidyadharas, the Siddhas could travel through space without the aid of aircraft. And here is how Vasu got his flying machine from Indra:

“I (Indra - A.F.) reward you with the rarest gift - to know about everything that happens within this Universe. I also grant you a crystal sky ship - the delight of the gods. This amazing ship is already on its way to you, and soon you, the only one among mortals, will step aboard it. Thus, like one of the gods, you will travel among the higher planets of this universe.”

Another hero of the Mahabharata, Arjuna, also flew around the Cosmos in an air chariot given to him by Indra:

“And on this sun-like, miraculous divine chariot, the wise descendant of Kuru flew up. Becoming invisible to mortals walking on the earth, he saw thousands of wonderful air chariots. There was no light, no sun, no moon, no fire, but they shone with their own light, acquired through their merits. Because of the distance, the light of the stars is visible as a tiny flame of a lamp, but in reality they are very large. Pandava (Arjuna - A.F.) saw them bright and beautiful, shining with the light of their own fire ... ”,

“So he traveled from one planet to another, like a wind that blows everywhere without encountering obstacles. Moving through the air in his magnificent, radiant castle in the air, which flew, obedient to his will, he surpassed even the demigods ... ".

Principles of travel in the universe

In addition to flying cities and celestial chariots, which were most likely spaceships, interplanetary stations and aircraft, special mention should be made of horses of a special breed “bred by the Gandharvas”. Here is how they are described in the Mahabharata:

“The horses of the gods and Gandharvas exude a heavenly fragrance and can gallop with the speed of thought. Even when their strength is exhausted, they still do not slow down ... The horses of the Gandharvas can change color at will and rush at any speed they want. It is enough just to mentally wish that they immediately appear before you, ready for the fulfillment of your will. These horses are always ready to fulfill your wishes.”

Based on the analysis of the text of the Vishnu Purana, R. L. Thompson determined which road Arjuna was driving on. Here is an excerpt from his book “Aliens. A look from the depths of centuries":

“The Bishnu Purana states that the Path of the Gods (devayana) lies north of the orbit of the Sun (ecliptic), north of the Nagavitha (nakshatras of Ashvini, Bharani and Kritika) and south of the stars of the seven rishis. Ashvini and Bharani are the constellations in Aries, north of the ecliptic, while Krittika is the constellation adjacent to the constellation Taurus, known as the Pleiades. Ashwini, Bharani and Krittika belong to a group of twenty-eight constellations called nakshatras in Sanskrit. The seven rishis are the stars of the Dipper in Ursa Major. From this information, we can form a general idea of the Path of the Gods as a road that stretches through the stars in the northern celestial hemisphere.

The origins of these legends are lost in times so distant from us that we. humanity now living on Earth is not able to name even a prilitary date of their compilation. It is only known that most of them were included in ancient Indian manuscripts written in the Sh-P millennium BC. e. - X century. n. e., and according to some sources, even earlier - in the 4th or 6th millennium BC. e. There are even more fantastic versions that the authors of some books, such as the Vedas (Rigveda, Samaveda, Atharvaveda, Yajurveda), Nimalatpurana, were snake-people - nagas, and the time of the events described in the legends was separated from us by many millions of years.
