East Siberian branch of the Federal State Budgetary educational institution higher education"Russian State University Justice" is one of 11 branches of the RGUP, located in the historical, cultural, scientific center Eastern Siberia - in Irkutsk, a city rich in legal traditions, with a strong law school, with a large on scientific potential.

The branch was created on the territory of the East Siberian Federal District on August 10, 2001 in accordance with the decision of the founders of the Supreme Court Russian Federation and the Supreme Arbitration Court of the Russian Federation.

The main building of the branch (and the student dormitory, located fifty meters from the building) is located in a picturesque location on the banks of the Angara River. This district of Irkutsk is called Student Town; many educational institutions of the city with their own infrastructure are concentrated in it: dormitories, sports complexes, and technology parks. This is truly the epicenter of intellectual youth and student life in Irkutsk.

The East Siberian branch today is one of the leading higher educational institutions Irkutsk. The branch consists of three faculties:

– Faculty of Continuing Education for the training of specialists for the judicial system – on the basis of the main general education;

– Faculty of training specialists for the judicial system (Faculty of Law) – on the basis of complete (general) secondary, secondary vocational and higher education;

– Faculty of advanced training and retraining of judges, state civil servants of courts and the Judicial Department (FPC of judges and civil servants of courts).

Formation of the personality of a modern lawyer, comprehensively developed, with the necessary set of human and professional qualities, is one of the main tasks of the university, requiring not only constant improvement of the educational process, but also carrying out a huge educational work. The leadership of the branch and student government bodies (in particular, the student parliament is active) closely cooperate in solving this problem. Particular attention is paid in the branch to the general civic, patriotic education of students, the creation of conditions for their cultural and aesthetic growth, and the mastery of general and professional ethics. Students of the branch have the opportunity to realize their Creative skills, studying in the literary and drama studio “In the Beginning was the Word...”, a choreographic dance ensemble of the indigenous peoples of Siberia, a vocal studio, demonstrating resourcefulness and humor in the KVN branch team, trying himself as a correspondent for the student newspaper “Bonostudio", achieving sporting success in various sports sections, developing their managerial talent in student government, showing their active life position, participating in the activities of the volunteer group "Our Baby".

A large place in the life of the branch is occupied by the research activities of the teaching staff and the research work of students. These activities are aimed at developing fundamental and applied scientific research in the field of organization of the judicial system, scientific support of law enforcement practice of courts, lawmaking, as well as improving the educational and methodological process.

As of November 1, 2014, the branch employed 178 people (113 main employees, 65 part-time employees). The number of teaching staff is 111 people, that is, 62.3% of all employees in the branch are teachers.

75 teachers have academic degree(67.6%), of which: 18 – Doctor of Science (16.2%),57 are candidates of science (51.3%).Currently, 5 university employees are conducting research on doctoral dissertations, 4 graduate students and 3 applicants are conducting research on candidate dissertations.

Two of the scientific and pedagogical workers were awarded the honorary title “Honored Lawyer of the Russian Federation”, and three bear the title “Honored Worker of the Higher vocational education Russian Federation".IN educational process Federal judges and professors from Moscow take part, regularly giving lectures to students.

The branch has created a system of scientific clubs and student laboratories. There is an active student scientific society. Together with the Irkutsk Regional Court, the Arbitration Court of the Irkutsk Region, the Administration of the Judicial Department in the Irkutsk Region, the Administration of the Department for Supporting the Activities of Justices of the Peace, the Council of Judges of the Irkutsk Region, the East Siberian Branch of the RGUP conducts permanent scientific and practical seminars, round tables on various issues related to increasing the efficiency of the region's judicial system.

Experienced practical workers of the judiciary participate in the educational process of the university, which allows them to quickly convey relevant modern knowledge to the student audience, refracting it to real judicial activities.

The branch strives to expand its international relations and strengthen cooperation with colleagues from other countries (the priority of the branch is the countries of the Asia-Pacific region, in particular China, Korea, Mongolia). The forms of such cooperation are participation, organization and holding of international scientific and practical conferences, congresses, round tables, student exchange, teacher internships, lecturing, master classes, etc.

Over the thirteen years of its existence, the East Siberian Branch has trained 2,081 graduates Faculty of Law and the Faculty of Continuing Education. More than 7,000 assistant judges of courts of general jurisdiction, arbitration courts, court secretaries, court staff, and justices of the peace were trained here at the faculty of advanced training and retraining.

The branch continues to develop as a scientific and methodological center of the region's judicial system. Its graduates are in demand, and many of them successfully work in the judiciary.
