It would seem that our world has been studied far and wide, and science will certainly have an answer to any question that interests us. However, no matter how. Until now, there are many mysterious things and phenomena that have no rational explanation.

website collected for you 10 questions that scientists are not able to answer.

cat purr

Everyone knows that cats always purr when they feel good. However, no one knows how they do it. There is no special organ in the throat of cats to make such sounds. It is interesting that during the purring it is impossible to listen to the heart or lungs of cats, and the purring itself is continuous, on inhalation and exhalation.

Scientists believe that cats use their vocal cords to make vibrating sounds that we hear as purrs. Also, in the course of research, it turned out that the frequency of purring is in the range necessary to accelerate regeneration and wound healing. Therefore, your cat is probably an excellent doctor.

Appearance of views out of nowhere

Scientists have been struggling with this riddle for many years. The fact is that many species of animals and plants on our planet simply appeared out of nowhere. They had no ancestors from which they could evolve, and this baffles science.

So it was, for example, with amphibians: the stage at which the fish gave birth to amphibians is not exactly known. And the very first land animals appeared already with developed limbs and a well-defined head. And there are dozens of different types. Then, after the alleged cataclysm (about 65 million years ago), which led to the extinction of dinosaurs, several different groups of mammals appear at once.

Magnetic compass in cows

You probably didn't even think about it. In general, no one thought before the appearance Google Earth. It was this service that allowed us to study thousands of pictures of grazing cows (don't ask why) and discover one strange pattern. About 70% of cows, when eating or drinking, turn their heads due north or south. Moreover, this is observed on all continents, regardless of the terrain, weather and other factors.

What is dark matter made of?

Since scientists officially excluded Pluto from the club of planets, it is believed that there are 8 of them left in our solar system. But no matter how. Most of our solar system has not yet been explored. The region between Mercury and the Sun is too bright, and the region beyond Uranus is too dark.

By the way, right in the outskirts of our solar system, beyond Pluto, is the so-called Kuiper belt, which consists of icy objects. There, scientists discover hundreds of thousands of objects every day, the size of Pluto, and even more.

Scientists have studied well why most people use their right hand more than their left. However, they still cannot understand what mechanisms work in this case.

It is believed that the majority (from 70 to 95%) are right-handed, a minority (from 5 to 30%) are left-handed. And there is also a percentage of ambidexters in which both hands are equally developed. Although scientists disagree here.

It has been proven that left-handedness and right-handedness are influenced by genes, but the exact “left-handed gene” has not yet been identified. There is also evidence that environment can also influence dominant hand selection. So, for example, teachers retrained children to use their right hand more often than their left hand.

Extinction of the megafauna

The common name for giant animals that once walked the Earth is megafauna. Megafauna disappeared about 10 thousand years ago. And scientists haven't been able to figure out why.

Some believe that the megafauna became extinct due to climate change, but there is little hard evidence for this. Another theory is that they simply did not have enough food. However, everything is not so simple here either. Scientists in Alaska sometimes find perfectly preserved ones, in the stomachs and even in the mouths of which undigested greens were found. This suggests that the animals died literally at the dinner table, and all at once. Why this happened, scientists do not know.

It would seem that our world has been studied up and down and science will certainly have an answer to any question that interests us. However, no matter how. Until now, there are many mysterious things and phenomena that have no rational explanation.

What is dark matter made of?

About 27% of the entire universe is dark matter. It's the kind of thing that doesn't emit electromagnetic radiation and does not directly interact with it. That is, dark matter does not emit light at all. This property makes it impossible to directly observe it.
The first theories about dark matter appeared about 60 years ago, but scientists still cannot provide direct evidence of its existence, although everything indicates that it is.

Since scientists officially excluded Pluto from the club of planets, it is believed that there are 8 of them left in our solar system. But no matter how. Most of our solar system is still unexplored.

By the way, they noticed a big gap in the Kuiper belt. This suggests that there is another planet the size of Earth or Mars, which has attracted all these stones around. So scientists will have to rewrite textbooks many times to explain how many planets there are in our solar system.

Why do we dream

Some people believe that dreams are just random images and brain impulses, while others are sure that they carry deep meaning, these are subconscious desires, problems and experiences. But one way or another, no one will give you an exact answer.

Even techniques such as hypnosis and lucid dreaming fail to provide an answer. Studying dreams special science- oneirology. Scientists in this field are unanimous that dreams symbolize something hidden deep in the psyche of people, although what exactly - no one can say.

space roar

In 2006, while trying to study young stars, scientists ran into a problem: an incomprehensible, mysterious noise that interfered with the study. Researchers never figured out what creates it. Sure, sound can't travel through space, but radio waves can, but from where? What publishes them? They managed to find out only that these waves do not belong to stars or other cosmic formations and phenomena known to man.

Why do we have different blood types?

Yes, science knows a lot about blood types, but no less questions still remain unanswered. For example, we still have no idea why they are different and why this is necessary from the point of view of evolution.

Archaeologists have dug out of the ground many items, most of which are quite simple - arrowheads or pots. But there are also those that make experts scratch their heads, because it is very difficult to understand what it is. And why was it done and by whom - and even more so.

1. Middle Eastern circles

Surely you know about the Nazca lines in Peru - ancient geoglyphs, visible only from a bird's eye view, in fame they are second only to the Egyptian pyramids. But in the Middle East there are also geoglyphs, albeit less known, but even more mysterious and ancient.

These "wheels" are round stone structures in the desert of Syria and Saudi Arabia. They are believed to be at least 2000 years old, but no one knew about them until 1920, that is, before the advent of aircraft. Archaeologists report that you need to rise at least 30 meters above the ground to see the circles.

Why they are and what they are - is still unclear. Some circles are grouped, others are not. In one circle there is a kind of “spokes” that correspond to astronomical phenomena, in others the “spokes” are drawn as if at random. The circles may be the remains of buildings or cemeteries, but most scholars tend to think that they had a religious significance.

2. Wall-mountain

In the US state of Georgia, guides usually tell tourists something like: "Now we are approaching a mysterious prehistoric wall." Yes, that's right. Who built the wall, it is not known why - too.

The wall reaches 270 meters in length and two meters in height, at least in some places. 30 holes can be found along the entire length of the wall, and in one place there are remains of a gate. The wall was built about 1600 years ago, although the holes may have been dug much later by European treasure hunters.

There is a theory that the wall protected the mountain from attacks, but this seems unlikely. There is no source of water in these places, in some places the wall is too low, and it was not built at all on those slopes that can be considered strategically important. Other theories say that the wall was used for sun worship or even as a boundary for "resting areas" for newlyweds on their honeymoon.

The zigzag shape of the wall is similar to the designs found on Native American pottery. This shape may correspond to the movement of celestial bodies, and the northern end of the wall indicates the position of the Sun at the summer solstice.

Cherokee legends say that the builders of the wall were underground inhabitants - tall, fair-skinned, bearded, awake at night and "moon-eyed". Perhaps we are talking about the Hitchiti tribes who previously lived on this land - they wore beards and lived in underground structures resembling caves. If they were tall and loved astronomy, then the explanation seems quite logical.

3. Derek Mahoney Cross of Glastonbury

There are many legends about King Arthur. One of them is this: in 1191, the monks from Glastonbury Abbey discovered his coffin. Nearby was a cross on which were engraved the words: "HIC IACET SEPULTUS INCLITUS REX ARTHURIUS IN INSULA AVALONIA", which translates as: "Here sleeps the great King Arthur on the Isle of Avalon."

Many believe that if the cross existed, the monks made it themselves so that more pilgrims would come to their abbey. However, the historical deception of the 12th century is very valuable. The last record of the cross appeared in the 17th century, and experts would very much like to know more about the mysterious cross. And in December 1981, a man appeared in the British Museum claiming that he had found this cross.

Unfortunately, Derek Mahoney refused to hand over the cross to museum staff or even allow it to be viewed. Then the museum turned to the authorities who owned the land where Mahoney allegedly found the artifact, and the Council received a court order to seize the cross. But Mahoney still refused to say where he was. In April 1982, the judge sentenced Mahoney to two years in prison, but specified that he would be released as soon as he finally told where the cross was.

In January 1983, an appointed lawyer (such lawyers in England are usually provided to people who are unable to defend themselves on their own) went to court to petition for the release of Mahoney. But Mahoney, oddly enough, argued that he should stay in prison, and the appointed lawyer had better go somewhere else and take care of the case. History repeated itself when the country's highest court ruled to release Mahoney. Despite the fact that Mahoney objected, he was literally kicked out of prison.

It was later revealed that Mahoney had a mold for the lead and the necessary skills to make a fake cross. But even if he did it well enough to deceive the experts and convince the authorities that he was right, he would still be put in jail for such deceit. But there is an opinion that Mahoney really knew where the cross was. But no one has ever seen the ancient relic.

4. Unicorn tapestries

The Musée Cluny in Paris has six beautiful tapestries depicting the hunt for a unicorn. Who their creator is unknown. They were made in the 15th or 16th century, but until 1814 there was not a single mention of them. No one even knew of their existence until, in 1841, the tapestries, wet and eaten by mice, were taken out of the Château de Boussac house.

At least something about the history of tapestries could be said by the monograms "AE" and "AF", embroidered in each corner ... if at least someone understood what they mean. Five of the six tapestries depict a thin blonde lady, but who she is can also only be guessed at.

Many historians believe that this is a sister Henry VIII Mary Tudor, who was married to the King of France Louis XII during the last six months of his life. Many see tapestries as allusions to marriage, love, and the desire to have children.

Others believe that the trellis scenes represent the five senses. On the first trellis, a woman is touching a unicorn; on the second, she is feeding the birds; on the third, she is sniffing a flower; on the fourth, she is playing musical instrument and finally, the fifth indicates the unicorn to its reflection. Christian scientists suggest that the unicorn is the image of Christ, and the woman is his mother, the Virgin Mary. And there are those who believe that the scenes depict the hunt for a real unicorn.

5Peruvian skulls in Florida

In January 2012, while digging a pool hole in South Florida, the skulls of a boy and an adult man were found. The small skull belonged to a ten-year-old child, and there was still tissue on the bones.

The police were called - this could be evidence of a murder. But no: the flesh on the skull was mummified, and both skulls were at least 800 years old. Even stranger was that the skulls had a unique structure known as Inca bone, which is characteristic mainly of the Peruvians.

Next to the skulls were other primitive artifacts - the remains of clothes and slings. They may have been bought and brought here by tourists in the 1930s, before laws banned the trade in such artifacts. The same applies to skulls - perhaps they were thrown into Florida by migrants from Peru. In any case, it is already impossible to understand how the skulls of the ancient Peruvians ended up in someone's backyard.

6. Gloselian tables

In 1924, farmer Emil Fradin found an underground chamber full of strange objects in one of his fields. It contained human bones, hermaphrodite idols, masks, and several tablets engraved with writing in a strange language. Fradin called archaeologists, and for many years excavations were carried out at this place. During this time, thousands of artifacts have been discovered.

There was so much debate over the discoveries that the New-York Times in 1927 called it the Gloselian War, meaning that all of France was divided into two camps, each of which defended its own opinion.

What is the dispute about? No one knew for sure if the artifacts were genuine. Some archaeologists claim that the tablets were made during the Neolithic, and that the language is the predecessor of the Phoenician alphabet, from which the Greek, Hebrew, Latin, Arabic and Cyrillic alphabets are derived. If this is true, then the cradle of civilization is France, not the Middle East.

It came to court: Fradin sued the head of the Louvre for libel. Then the police searched the farmer's house and found several apparently recently carved tablets. The farmer was arrested for fraud, but Fradin's supporters did not believe in the forgery. International experts in their reports called all the found tablets fakes, but this only fueled controversy. Fradin was never convicted.

Modern tests show that the bones in this place are collected from a variety of eras - some bones lie from the 300s. BC e., others - from the 17th century. Glass was made in France during the Middle Ages. And the tablets seem to be the same age as the oldest bones - they are definitely at least 2000 years old. The clay from which they are made is chemically identical to the local clay, so they were probably made in France. Most experts agree that the language on the tablets is one of the varieties of the Old Celtic language. There seems to be no secret.

But it is completely incomprehensible how so many unusual and diverse objects ended up in one place - there is no other such place in Europe. The only one who could at least know something, Fradin, did not clarify anything - in 2010 he died and took the secret with him to the grave. If he knew, of course.

7. Mysterious Stone

In 1872, during the construction of a foundation near Lake Winnipesaukee in New Hampshire, USA, builders discovered a strange object - it was a black stone egg with carvings about ten centimeters high. He was immediately recognized as a miracle scientific world: nothing like this has ever been found in the USA before and still has not been found. known as the Mysterious Stone.

On the front (let's call it that for lack of a better designation for an egg) a face is engraved on the egg. On the sides are corn cobs, circles, parts of animals, spirals, a crescent and various lines and dots. There are numerous holes at the top and bottom, presumably made using 19th century technology, which means that the stone was made shortly before it was found.

Nobody wrote down the details. The exact location and depth at which the stone lay is unknown. Rocks of the type of which the stone is composed are not found in New Hampshire. After almost 150 years of research, scientists still do not know who made it, why and why the stone ended up in the ground.

8. Golden hats

Perhaps the most unusual artifacts of the Bronze Age in Europe are four golden caps, or cones. Their height varies from 30 cm to almost one meter. The caps are 90% gold and embellished with extremely complex concentric circles. The oldest known cap is the Berlin Cone: it was created around 1300 BC. e., and discovered in 1835. The cone is engraved with 1739 symbols of the Sun and Moon.

Presumably, the cones could be parts of armor, ceremonial vases, decorations of religious places, or even hats of "wizards", more precisely, priest-astronomers. Modern Analysis shows that the cones depict the exact solar and lunar cycles that were first observed by the astronomer Meton of Athens in the 5th century BC. e. This may mean that the Proto-Celtic culture was several centuries ahead of its time.

9 Egyptian Spiders

In 2013, archaeologists discovered an engraved stone panel in Egypt that may be the world's earliest known depiction of spiders. The panels are probably around 6,000 years old, making it older than the ancient Egyptian civilization.

There are suggestions that the spiders depicted here are a "blank". It looks like the truth: ovals with four thin curved "legs" look like spiders in children's drawings. Star-like images can be webs.

Dr. Heather Lynn, an author and proponent of "alternative archaeology," believes that the panel does not actually depict spiders at all, but the Sirius star system. This is supposedly an old map of the starry sky - ancient people definitely liked to look up. In addition, there is a lot of evidence that the ancient Egyptians were interested in astronomy, but nothing is known about their interest in spiders.

10. Aramu Muru

The Inca Gates of Aramu Muru in Peru are huge "cuts" in solid rock: a flat slab is framed on both sides by depressions seven meters high. In the center of the slab there is another recess, about the height and width of a man. It feels like someone started carving a building or something like that into the rock, and then abandoned it.

This "door" among lovers paranormal activity- almost a cult object: they consider it a magical portal. Locals consider it the gate to the underworld, which magicians can open with a special key or spell. Some say that the "door" opens at midnight, and on the other side is the city. There is even a theory that the "gates" lead to the other end of the universe.

Perhaps the natives, thousands of years ago, really discovered a way to travel among the stars? It would be great if this theory turned out to be true. But, most likely, someone just had to give up construction, which, you see, is a bit sad.

In the history of mankind there are mysterious cases that are very difficult to explain even from the point of view of a scientific approach, since there are many variants of assumptions about something ambiguous, for example, the death of the Dyatlov tourist group. But if you use Occam's razor and cut off everything superfluous, then the picture immediately becomes clear and no longer looks so mystical.
The death of the Dyatlov group

In January 1959, 9 young tourists - students and graduates of the Ural Polytechnic Institute went on a hike in the north Sverdlovsk region. The campaign was led by a fifth-year student Igor Dyatlov. The ultimate goal of this trip was Mount Otorten (which in Mansi means “do not go there”), which the tourists had to conquer and return back. However, the tourists did not return.

On February 26, a tent of tourists, cut from the inside, was found on the slope of Mount Kholat-Syakhl (“mountain of the dead”). Judging by the contents of the tent, it was suddenly abandoned by all the tourists - things, shoes, money and food of tourists were found there. Subsequently, the bodies of all 9 participants in the campaign were found.
It turned out that some of them died from hypothermia, while others from numerous injuries. Most of the bodies were found poorly dressed and without shoes. In addition, one of the tourists was speechless and some of her clothing contained radioactive substances. The criminal case was closed with the conclusion that the reason for the death of tourists was " elemental force which they were unable to overcome.

During recent years this story became an internet sensation. Many versions have appeared, and many home-grown "researchers" are inclined to such exotic causes of the death of "Dyatlovites" as aliens, ghosts, and even big Foot.
Simple explanation:
7 mysterious factors in this story excite people's minds: the absence of a tongue in one of the corpses, a strange orange skin tone in the corpses, a tent cut from the inside, the absence of warm clothes in the deceased, injuries that were found only in three tourists and, of course, traces of radioactivity on the clothes of the dead. In addition, according to some accounts, on the very night that the tourists died, fireballs appeared in the sky, which were seen by more than one person.
Recall that the bodies of tourists were found a few weeks after the death (presumably, judging by the diaries found, the "Dyatlovites" died on the night of February 1-2). Four bodies were found only in May, after the snows began to melt. Wild animals begin to eat the corpse from the softest parts - in this case language. The orange hue of the bodies could be formed from the fact that the bodies, surrounded by snow, lay in the sun for a long time.
Injuries to tourists and the cutting of the tent can be explained by the fact that an avalanche descended on the tent. The tourists cut open the tent and fled from it without having time to put on their shoes and get dressed. In addition, freezing people sometimes, instead of getting dressed, undress - this is due to the fact that a freezing person's brain function is disturbed. As for radioactivity and "fireballs", nothing is said about this in the original documents. It seems that all this was thought out by people who love sensations.
In general, nothing indicates that anything more than an accident happened to the Dyatlovites. Supporters of mystical and conspiracy theories do not want to put up with this and are looking for new evidence that the "Dyatlovites" were killed not by "elemental force", but by something else, much more interesting.
Disappearance of the Roanoke Colony

The Roanoke Colony was either the first permanent settlement in North America, or a well-thought-out bad prank. Sir Walter Raleigh, who funded the colony, sent settlers there and left them there to fend for themselves without any food supplies, most likely just to see if they survived or not.
However, something happened that no one expected - the colony simply disappeared. The second group of settlers found only one skeleton and the mysterious word "croatoan" carved into a tree.
What happened to the colony? Maybe aliens or other mysterious creatures stole the settlers?
Simple explanation:
UFOs or ghosts have nothing to do with it. Just abandoned to the mercy of fate, the guys met with the natives of the Croatoan tribe, who knew much better than the settlers how to get food and how to live on this island in general. Therefore, they made a very reasonable decision - to leave their colony and join the Croatoans.
Mysterious creatures in Hopkinsville

In 1955, the Sutton family dined on their front porch with family friend Billy Ray Taylor. Billy went to drink water from the well ... It was then that the mysterious events began, which are still being talked about. Billy ran back to the verandah, shouting about strange fires blazing in the sky, and invited the Suttons to look at this miracle. The Suttons ran into the courtyard, but instead of heavenly lights, they saw in the courtyard houses strange luminous creatures with a large head, large ears, luminous eyes and long arms. Seeing the humanoids, the Suttons tried to kill them with a gun, but the creatures, instead of dying, simply disappeared into the darkness.
Simple explanation:
The Suttons not only described the creatures, but also drew them. It must be said that the heads of these creatures surprisingly resemble the head of an ordinary night owl. And given that the Suttons drank a lot that evening and were frightened, one can imagine what their imagination painted.
Mad gas man or gas maniac

In the early 1930s, residents of two American towns were subjected to strange attacks: some man, later nicknamed "the mad gasman", poisoned people's houses with poisonous gas, spraying it through the windows, sometimes even building barricades so that the victims could not get out of the poisoned room. The victims of these attacks complained of weakness and sore throats. These events sowed real panic among the population.
Naturally, an official investigation into these events began. Some victims claimed to have seen a "gas maniac", but they all described the "mad gas man" in completely different ways. Someone said that it was a man, someone said that it was a woman, the maniac seemed thin to someone, full to someone .... In general, if you collect all the descriptions together, then there is hardly a person on earth who would not fall under at least one of these descriptions. The “mad gasman” was never caught, but the story was overgrown with rumors and a huge number of versions, sometimes completely implausible.
Simple explanation:
Two weeks after the start of the investigation, Thomas Wright, a member of the Health Commission, stated: “There is no doubt that the “gas maniac” actually exists and that he really carried out a series of attacks. However, many claims of attacks are nothing more than mass hysteria. The whole city is sick with hysteria."
But the head of the local police said that no gas maniac does not exist at all. It's just that some people heard a noise outside the window, opened the window, smelled a strange smell and spread rumors about a gas maniac. It is worth considering that there were many enterprises polluting the air in the city.
However, these statements did not reassure people. Reports of gas attacks continued to come in, however, none of them were confirmed.
Most likely, the "gas maniac" actually existed. The researchers say that in the end the identity of the maniac was established, he turned out to be a student of a local medical institute, who actually sprayed gas through the windows a couple of times, which led to mass hysteria. When asked why he did it, he replied that he was just crazy.
Skull of Starchild (Starchild)

In 1930, a skull was found in an abandoned mine unusual shape. Experts have determined that the skull is about 900 years old. Fans of everything paranormal immediately declared that the skull belongs to an alien, or another mysterious creature. This skull was not discussed only by the lazy, and of course, it seemed much more interesting to many to consider this skull as part of a mysterious creature than to look for simple explanations. However, a simple explanation does exist.
Simple explanation:
For some reason, most ufologists believe that aliens are similar to people (two eyes, a mouth, a nose), with slight differences (well, for example, they may have a different skin color or eyes of a different size). But why should beings from other planets, whose conditions are not at all similar to earthly ones, be similar to people? However, some researchers agree that aliens do not have to be like us at all, so they say that the "Starchild", whose skull was found in the mine, is the fruit of the love of a dugout and an alien.
However, researchers, not inclined to search for the mysterious and paranormal, say that the skull belonged to a small child aged 3 to 5 years. Obviously, the child suffered from malformations, which are the cause of the strange shape of the skull. There are a large number of diseases that lead to skull deformity - why have riddle lovers forgotten about this?

Many of these events happened a long time ago, but they still excite the imagination.

Mysterious Murders at the Hinterkaifeck Farm

In 1922, the mysterious murder of six people committed on the small farm of Hinterkaifeck shocked all of Germany. And not only because the murders were committed with horrendous cruelty.

All the circumstances associated with this crime were very strange, even mystical, and to this day it remains unsolved.

During the investigation, more than 100 people were interrogated, but no one was ever arrested. Not a single motive that could somehow explain what happened was also identified.

The maid who worked in the house ran away six months ago, claiming it was haunted. The new girl arrived just a few hours before the murder.

Apparently, the attacker was on the farm for at least a few days - someone fed the cows and ate in the kitchen. In addition, neighbors saw smoke coming from the chimney during the weekend. The photo shows the body of one of the dead, found in a barn.

Phoenix Lights

The so-called "Phoenix Lights" are several flying objects that on the night of Thursday, March 13, 1997 were observed by more than 1000 people: in the sky over the states of Arizona and Nevada in the USA and over the state of Sonora in Mexico.

In fact, two strange events occurred that night: a triangular formation of luminous objects that moved across the sky, and several motionless lights hovering over the city of Phoenix. However, in the latest US Air Force, they recognized the lights from the A-10 Warthog aircraft - it turned out that at that time military exercises were taking place in southwestern Arizona.

Solway Firth Astronaut

In 1964, the family of Briton Jim Templeton was walking near the Solway Firth. The head of the family decided to take a picture of his five-year-old daughter with Kodak. The Templetons claimed that there was no one else in these marshy places except them. And when the pictures were developed, one of them showed a strange figure peeking out from behind the girl. The analysis showed that the photo was not subjected to any changes.

falling body

The Cooper family has just moved into their new home in Texas. In honor of the housewarming, a festive table was laid, at the same time we decided to take some family photos. And when the pictures were developed, a strange figure was found on them - it seems that someone's body is either hanging or falling from the ceiling. Of course, the Coopers did not see anything like this during the shooting.

Too many hands

The four guys were fooling around taking pictures in the yard. When the film was shown, it turned out that one extra hand appeared on it from nowhere (peeps out from behind the back of a guy in a black T-shirt).

"Battle of Los Angeles"

This picture was published in the Los Angeles Times on February 26, 1942. To this day, conspiracy theorists and ufologists cite it as evidence of extraterrestrial visits to Earth. They claim that the photo clearly shows that the beams of searchlights fall on an alien flying ship. However, as it turned out, the photo for publication was pretty retouched - this is a standard procedure, which almost all published black-and-white photographs were subjected to to heighten the effect.

The incident itself, captured in the photo, was called a “misunderstanding” by the authorities. The Americans had just survived the Japanese attack, and in general the tension was incredible. Therefore, the military got excited and opened fire on the object, which, most likely, was a harmless weather balloon.

The lights of Hessdalen

In 1907, a group of educators, students and scientists set up a scientific camp in Norway to study a mysterious phenomenon called the Hessdalen Fires.

On a clear night, Bjorn Hauge took this picture using a shutter speed of 30 seconds. Spectral analysis showed that the object must be composed of silicon, iron and scandium. This is the most informative, but far from the only photo of the Hessdalen Lights. Scientists are still scratching their heads as to what it could be.

Time Traveler

This photo was taken in 1941 during the opening of the South Forks Bridge. The attention of the public was attracted by a young man who was considered by many to be a "time traveler" - because of his modern hairstyle, zip-up sweater, printed T-shirt, fashionable glasses and a soap camera. The whole outfit is clearly not from the 40s. On the left, a camera is highlighted in red, which was actually in use at that time.

9/11 Attack - South Tower Woman

In these two shots, a woman can be seen standing on the edge of the hole in the South Tower after the plane crashed into the building. Her name is Edna Clinton and, not surprisingly, she was on the list of survivors. How she did it is beyond me, considering everything that happened in that part of the building.

skunk monkey

In 2000, a woman who wished to remain anonymous took two photographs of the mysterious creature and sent it to the Sarasota County Sheriff (Florida). The photographs were accompanied by a letter in which the woman assured that she photographed a strange creature in the backyard of her house. The creature came to her house three nights in a row and stole the apples left on the terrace.

UFO in the painting "Madonna with Saint Giovannino"

The Madonna with Saint Giovannino is by Domenico Ghirlandai (1449-1494) and is currently in the collection of the Palazzo Vecchio, Florence. Above Maria's right shoulder, a mysterious flying object and a man who is watching it are clearly visible.

Incident at Lake Falcon

Another meeting with the alleged extraterrestrial civilization occurred at Lake Falcon on May 20, 1967.

Someone Stefan Michalak was resting in these places and at some point noticed two descending cigar-shaped objects, one of which landed very close. Michalak claims to have seen the door open and heard voices coming from within.

He tried to speak to the aliens in English, but there was no answer. Then he tried to get closer, but came across an "invisible glass", which, apparently, served as a protection for the object.

Suddenly, Michalak was surrounded by a cloud of air so hot that his clothes caught fire. The man suffered severe burns.

Bonus:

This story took place on the evening of February 11, 1988 in the city of Vsevolozhsk. There was a light knock on the window of the house where a woman who was fond of spiritualism and her teenage daughter lived. Looking out, the woman saw no one. Went out on the porch - no one. And there were no footprints in the snow under the window either.

The woman was surprised of great importance did not give. And half an hour later there was a pop and part of the glass in the window where the invisible guest was knocking fell off, forming an almost perfectly round hole.

The next day, at the request of the woman, her Leningrad acquaintance, candidate of technical sciences S.P. Kuzionov, arrived. He carefully examined everything and took several pictures.

When the photograph was developed, it showed the face of a woman peering into the lens. Both the mistress of the house and Kuzionov himself found this face unfamiliar.
