January 10 - birthday famous writer Tolstoy Alexei Nikolaevich who gave us all a wonderful story-tale "The Golden Key, or the Adventures of Pinocchio". A mischievous, restless, nimble wooden boy has become one of the most beloved heroes of the children. It is known for sure that for the first time the fairy tale about Pinocchio appeared on the pages of the Pionerskaya Pravda newspaper on November 7, 1935, and the book was printed in the spring of the following year. The first color pictures for the book were drawn by the artist Aminadav Kanevsky. In his drawings, everyone saw what kind of jacket Pinocchio has, what trousers, what big shoes. Later Pinocchio was painted by other artists.

Do you know that the book of the Italian storyteller Carlo Collodi "Pinocchio, or the Adventures of a Wooden Doll" served as the impetus for the creation of the "Golden Key" for Tolstoy? Aleksey Nikolaevich Tolstoy himself told us about this in the preface to his book: "Once upon a time, a long time ago ...". And the author named the main character that way, because the word "Pinocchio" in Italian means "wooden doll". But the well-known other character of the Duremar fairy tale had a real prototype. In 1895, the French doctor Jacques Belemard, a passionate admirer of leech treatment, worked in Moscow. He demonstrated all the methods of this method of treatment on himself, which greatly amused the audience. Moscow children often found him on the swampy shores of ponds and lakes, where he caught leeches. The children teased him, distorting the French surname in their own way - Duremar. This fact was widely known and Alexei Tolstoy took advantage of it, inventing the heroes of his fairy tale.

The tale of the golden key and Pinocchio liked the writer Elena Danko and the writing duet of Alexander Kumma and Sakko Runge so much that they - in their own way - tried to write it continuation. This is how the books "The Defeated Karabas" and "The Second Secret of the Golden Key" were born.

Based on the fairy tale by A.N. Tolstoy in 1958 was filmed a full-length cartoon"The Adventures of Pinocchio", as well as a musical by composer Alexei Rybnikov, based on poems by Bulat Okudzhava and Yuri Entin.
