All-Union popularity came to Iosif Kobzon in 1964, when he sang the song "And in our yard." Then the singer was a soloist-vocalist of the State Concert - an association that organized tours of Soviet artists abroad and foreign artists in the USSR.

"Victory Day"

Iosif Kobzon is one of the most famous performers of the song "Victory Day", written by composer David Tukhmanov to the words of Vladimir Kharitonov on the 30th anniversary of the end of the Great Patriotic War.

Tukhmanov and Kharitonov participated in the competition of the Union of Composers of the USSR for the best song about the war, but did not take any place and were even criticized: the 35-year-old composer was considered not mature enough to write about the war, and elements of tango and foxtrot were heard in the song itself. Nevertheless, the “Victory Day” fell in love with the audience and became an indispensable attribute of the May 9 celebrations, a drill song and a parade march.

"Song of a Distant Homeland"

The song to the verses of Robert Rozhdestvensky sounded in the film "Seventeen Moments of Spring". “The manner of singing and the nature of the voice of Joseph Kobzon perfectly matched the image of Stirlitz,” remembered Muslim Magomayev, who also auditioned for the “Song of a Distant Homeland”.

"I love you life"

Kobzon became one of the performers of this song seven years after the composer Eduard Kolmanovsky wrote music to the verses of Konstantin Vanshenkin. For the World Congress of Women, which was held in Moscow in 1963, they released records with records of “I love you life” in English (I’m in Love With You, Life) and French (Oui, je t’aime, la vie). Both versions were performed by Kobzon.

Song dedicated to October revolution, was first heard at the closing of the 17th Congress of the Komsomol in 1974. It was written by Nikolai Dobronravov and Alexandra Pakhmutova. Subsequently, this song was repeatedly re-sung, including the groups "Leningrad", "Civil Defense" and "Nogu Svelo".

"Where does the motherland begin"

The song by Veniamin Basner to the words of Mikhail Matusovsky became the musical basis of the film about the Great Patriotic War "Shield and Sword". In 1969, Soviet schoolchildren wrote an all-Union essay on the topic “Where the Motherland Begins”, and in 2014 in Tyumen established monument of the same name with photographs from the family albums of the city's residents.

"Dark night"

The director of the film "Two Soldiers" Leonid Lukov could not convincingly shoot a shot in which a soldier writes a letter. After many failed attempts he decided to amplify the scene with a song and turned to the composer Nikita Bogoslovsky, who quickly suggested a melody, and the poet Vladimir Agatov immediately wrote poetry. The song was performed by Mark Bernes.

After the release of the film in 1943, "Dark Night" became one of the most famous and popular songs written during the Great Patriotic War. It was performed by many singers, including Iosif Kobzon. In 2015 "Dark Night" entered in the top 100 popular songs in Russia, according to a survey by the Russian Reporter magazine.
