Fallout 3. How to get to Vault 87 from Little Lamplade? and got the best answer

Answer from Seryogaaa:D™[guru]

When you leave, soldiers from the Enclave will catch you and torture you in every possible way, demanding a code. You can't speak the code, otherwise you will be killed. The President of the Enclave will let you go and tell you to go to his office, but while you are going, the colonel will cancel his decision. Go up to the second level, at the end of the corridor that leads to the stairs to the hall, on the left you will find the “Energy Baby Doll”. Go up to the hall, there is the entrance to the Control Hall.

Answer from Alexander Rebezov[newbie]
You can’t just enter shelter 87, there is deadly radiation at the entrance. But you can find the entrance in the Lamplight Caves. The entrance to the caves south of shelter 87, under the hill on which there is a water tower. The entrance to the shelter is located behind the children's town of Little Lampite. At the entrance you will be greeted by an evil boy, I went through him using the “Eternal Child” skill, he gives unique lines in dialogues with children. If you do not have such a skill, then you will have to please the boy in other ways. You can also get a laser rifle for free in the large hall if you have the “Eternal Child” skill.

Talk to the mayor so that he will open the door to the murderous passage. Go to the reactor compartment, from there to the living quarters. Go upstairs to the “Experimental Laboratories”, follow the right corridor to the end, there will be a computer behind the right door, hack it and you will release the super mutant Fox. He will guide you to the GEKK and bring it from a place with deadly radiation.

I half-baked with the God mode there is 2145 radiation, in short, a scientist came out from there in a radiation suit with anti-radin and he died; I can’t get through there straight away, I’ll try in the caves like that.

  2. In front of you you will see the Pentagon, now the Citadel, the headquarters of the Brotherhood of Steel. After talking with the head of the Brotherhood and the scribes, go to the Little Lamplight caves, through which you can get to vault 87, where the cornerstone of the entire series is located - GECK (Generator of Edenic Tabernacles Compact). The Vault can ONLY be accessed from the caves. Don't try to go through the titular entrance, there is radiation that will kill you before you take the anti-rad.
  3. at the entrance the radiation reaches 4000 units, so there’s no hope. only through the kids. Once you get a new level, pump up your eloquence and select “eternal child” (a very useful opportunity, to be honest. Take it, you won’t regret it.)

It turns out that entering Asylum It’s simply unrealistic, because near the entrance you will receive a lethal dose of radiation. But there is one way through the caves Lamplight in which the town is located Little Lamplight. But! When you arrive there the local will not let you in child mayor McCready.

To be allowed through you must complete the quest " Rescue from Ra I". After this you can enter the city. Ask the mayor to take you to Killing Passage, through which you can get to Vault 87. Vault 87 Fallout 3 is a laboratory bunker created for experiments on people and the Man-made Evolution Virus. Built by Vault-Tec and subordinate to the leadership of the Mariposa base. It was this Vault that became the birthplace of the first super mutants.

Description of Vault 87

Vault 87 is a depressing sight. The bunker is completely polluted by super mutants. There are bloody scraps, garbage and skeletons everywhere. Many rooms and their entrances are littered with cabinets, tables and other pieces of furniture.

The bunker in Fallout 3 has an almost standard layout. The only difference is the sector in which human experiments were carried out. More precisely, a compartment with five isolators and a long corridor leading to the GECC. There are several separate locations:

  1. Reactor chamber. You can get there from the Great Hall of Little Lamplight. The Killing Passage also leads here, but it is much better protected. A small Fallout 3 location with several terminals and supplies.
  2. Living spaces. The main level, where almost all the rooms, hiding places and most of the enemies are located. It has several floors and a bunch of sections.
  3. Experimental laboratories. The only entrance to them is through the Living Quarters. Quite a large location with several laboratories, isolation cells and the compartment where the GEKK is located in Fallout In this section high level radiation, so you can’t just get there - you’ll need either a radiation-resistant partner or a lot of medicine.

There are two ways to get to the location. Both lie in the town of Little Lamplight. You'll have to earn the trust of the locals and find one of them. The first is through the Killing Passage, the second is through the door leading into the reactor room. Both routes are guarded by super mutants.

Vault 87 Dwellers

Before Great War the bunker was inhabited mostly by scientists and doctors who experimented on people to please the military. The residents became experimental material - they also became the first super mutants.

At the time of the game Fallout 3, Vault 87 is inhabited by super mutants who are aggressive towards the Traveler. They have filled all levels of the bunker and attack at the first sign of the protagonist's appearance. In addition, mutants periodically make forays into the Capital Wasteland and the neighboring children's town of Little Lamplight.

In addition to the main inhabitants of Vault 87, you can meet some other Fallout 3 creatures:

  1. Sid the man. A madman who can even attack the Lonely Traveler if all the insulators are opened at once, and not each one separately.
  2. Several centaurs. Can appear in empty insulators. In the same premises lie two dead victims of an experiment with FEV - terrible mutants that vaguely resemble humans.
  3. Friendly super mutant Fox. Has an extremely developed mind compared to his brothers. He is one of the very first three super mutants. After the death of the scientists who locked him away as a failed experiment, his brothers refused to let him out of the cell. As a result, Fox sat locked up for almost 200 years, educating himself through a terminal that ended up in his cell. Can be hired as a partner, but only with positive karma.

Apart from these creatures, there is no one else in the bunker. Since FEV has ended, there is no need for super mutants to bring new prisoners. You can only encounter those who remained to guard Vault 87. At high difficulty levels, serious resistance will be provided - we recommend taking care of treatment, good weapons, armor and ammunition in advance.

Social experiment in the Vault

It is believed that this bunker was the place from which some of the first super mutants emerged. The experiment on the residents here began even before the start of the Great War, in 2077. By order military base Mariposa residents tested a specially modified strain of the Man-made Evolution Virus (FEV), designed to strengthen the skin of future mutants.

But for some reason, during the experiments on residents, people did not survive. The virus negatively affected the brain, causing its complete degradation - up to the failure of the respiratory and digestive centers. For a year, scientists struggled to create viable super mutants - and they succeeded. In 2078, the first viable and more or less adequate individuals appear.

However, this led to the fall of Vault 87. The super mutants did not like the fact that someone was experimenting on them. So they rebelled and took over the bunker. After which they began to reproduce their own kind with the help of the remnants of FEV - they stole people from the Capital Wasteland and brought their bunker to increase their own population.

By the time Fallout 3 began, FEV supplies had run out. Therefore, super mutants scattered from the Vault to different ends of the Wasteland to find at least a little more virus. Only a few dozen guards and a couple of prisoners remained in the bunker.

Secrets of Vault 87

Interesting fact: the developers of Fallout 3 gave the number to the bunker according to the number of deaths during experiments with the Man-made Evolution Virus. There were 87 victims in total before the first mutants appeared.

Vault 87 does not have a main entrance. Of course, he is depicted in Fallout 3 and is even mentioned in dialogue. But you won’t be able to open the doors, even if you overcome a titanically high level of radiation (up to 3000 rad/sec). Approaching the main entrance, you can see the deceased girl researcher in an anti-radiation suit. It’s interesting that the developers of Fallout 3 didn’t think about how the mutants would get inside the shelter - they couldn’t get through the main doors, nor through Little Lamplight. Therefore, it is unknown exactly how they got into the bunker.

In the medical laboratory on the second floor there are large stocks of antiradin. Considering that the anti-radiation background in some places in the bunker is increased, it is definitely worth stopping by for medicine.

There are many safes scattered around Vault 87. To open them, you need to have at least a few hairpins and a pumped-up Hacking skill. There is a lot of interesting stuff inside - from rare ammunition to medicine and weapons.

In the bunker you can find a door that requires a key. But it doesn't exist in Fallout 3. You can only get inside using cheat codes. But there is no point in this - there is nothing useful behind the door. Whether this is a glitch or a special technique to force the player to crawl around the entire Vault is unknown.

The GECK in Fallout 3 can be obtained without Fox's help. It is enough to have a sufficient amount of antiradin and Rad-X with you. The method in which the GECK is obtained does not affect the passage of Fallout 3 at all. The only thing is that Fox will be offended that the Lone Traveler risked his health so much, but he will not object.

Who are super mutants and how were they born?

Debut trailer

May 30, 2018 company Bethesda announced a new game called Fallout 76. Because of such an unexpected announcement, we hasten to talk about other shelters that you will visit in various parts of the game (or you may not visit, since some shelters are only mentioned in various archival records scattered throughout the world of Fallout).

This time we will talk about shelter number 87. What was the true purpose of the bunker? What happened to its inhabitants? What useful loot will you find for yourself? We will try to answer all these questions in our article.

This location can only be visited in Fallout 3 however, she is also mentioned in the Fallout Bible.

Location

Location on the map

Vault 87 is one of the structures of the Vault-Tec corporation, the official purpose of which is to save all registered residents from a nuclear strike. The unofficial goal was, as you may have guessed, something completely different, but more on that later. The bunker is located in the vastness of the Capital Wasteland, on western edge cards. Construction began in May 2066 and ended in December 2071.

Story

View of the main entrance

Around 2076, the original experiment was abandoned, and the shelter was soon converted into a secondary research facility, the purpose of which was to study the effects of the so-called "Man-Made Evolution Virus" (FEV for short) on humans.

According to the scientists who led the experiment, the virus was supposed to adapt the human body to post-nuclear living conditions, making them irreplaceable soldiers who could not care less about the radioactive threat. However, this was not destined to come true.

As a result of the experiment, the subjects turned into mutants. During the influence of FEV on the body, the brains of the test subjects began to degrade, the test subjects themselves became extremely aggressive, their size increased greatly, and their physical strength increased many times over in comparison with humans.

The result of a failed experiment

The warden and the security service were well aware of the experiment and followed all the instructions coming from the Vault-Tec Corporation. Unfortunately, this was not enough. A year after the shelter was sealed (due to a nuclear strike right on the top of the cave under which the shelter was located), aggressive mutants killed all the bunker guards and broke free.

Since then, mutants have been roaming the Capital Wasteland and terrifying all the other inhabitants of these lands. They were somewhat obsessed with preserving their species, which is why they often kidnapped people and took them to medical units, which were converted into prison cells. In these cells, mutants tried to turn the kidnapped people into their own kind. It worked out for some, but not for others.

For almost 200 years they reproduced in this way, until the supply of FEVs ran out. Now these aggressive creatures roam in groups throughout the wasteland to find new source virus.

How to get to the shelter

Killer Passage

You can only get inside the bunker through the Little Lamplight location. You will have the opportunity to ask Mayor McCready about how you can get there. The mayor will offer you two options: go directly through the Killing Passage location or use the broken terminal, which will open a safer passage to the shelter.

In our opinion, it is better to use the second option, since the path through the “Killer Passage” will force you to spend a significant amount of both ammunition and medicine. However, after going through this passage, you can earn a good amount of experience.

The broken terminal will become available to you when you talk to Joseph, to whom the mayor will send you. He has the ability to repair a faulty computer, but this is only possible if you saved Penny from Paradise Falls, or if you have a high enough Science or Speech skill (at least 50), or if you have the perk " eternal child." Joseph can be found in the morning at the Little Lamplight school building.

If none of the above conditions have been met, the only way into the shelter remains the “Killer Passage”. Along the way, you will meet a couple of super mutants armed with rocket launchers and miniguns, as well as several dangerous traps. In general, caution will not hurt you. can be found on a shelf in the pantry on the second level of the living quarters. However, the room is locked with a medium lock and you will need the appropriate skill level to open it.

  • Quantum Nuka Cola can also be found in this location, and the nuclear drink is located in the same room as the book “Fist Fighting in Illustrations”.
